Purpose

The gear passes
through. It shouldn't
stop here.

Every year a lot of capable kit comes through this channel for review — and most of it ends up in a drawer once the video is up. This is what we do with some of it instead.

Reviews pay for this channel. But anyone can review a phone — the point of the whole thing has to be bigger than that. Creating Young Talent (CYT) puts capable creative and tech gear into the hands of young people who want to start in tech or make things, and don't have the kit to begin.

Creating Young Talent

How it works — and how we keep it safe.

Real tools, real hands

Ex-review hardware that still has plenty of life goes to someone starting out — a first proper machine to learn, edit, build, create on.

Through partners, never directly

Recipients are nominated by trusted organisations — schools, colleges, youth and education charities — against simple criteria. We never source recipients directly. That protects the young people involved and keeps the whole thing accountable.

Safeguarding first

Minors are involved, so this is designed for their protection from day one: no unsupervised contact, consent and anonymity where anyone is filmed, and data held minimally. Done properly, it protects them — and earns your trust rather than asking for it.

An honest tracker beats a glossy one. These numbers grow as real handovers happen — each one a story worth telling.

How it started

It began with a letter to Apple asking them to help put machines into young hands. They said no. That's not the end of the story — it's the start of it. Plenty of others will say yes, and the journey of asking, being turned down, and finding the right partners is worth documenting honestly. The first donation — an M2 Mac Mini — is already set aside and waiting for the right person.

How it's funded

The gear itself

Review units accumulate here anyway. Instead of reselling every one, a portion goes to CYT — so the channel funds the mission almost by itself.

A slice of revenue

A transparent share of channel and affiliate revenue, earmarked and reported openly.

Partners who say yes

Refurbishers, education brands and digital-inclusion programmes can co-fund donations — an on-brand way to help.

The charity side In development

Alongside CYT, a share of what this channel earns will go to supporting children living in poverty — in Brazil, where I'm from, and the UK, where I live. The exact charity isn't chosen yet: getting that right matters more than doing it fast, and you may well get a say in it. More on this when it's real, not before.

Partner with purpose

Brands: co-funding a CYT donation is a genuine, on-brand way to be part of this — and it lives on the partnerships page.
